Elizabeth Ellsworth is an artist and author of Solid, Broken, Changing, a YA scifi novel that takes hopepunk to its next level: wayfindrpunk. It’s inspired by her experiences of co-existence on a radically changing planet Earth.
With Jamie Kruse, she co-directs smudge studio (smudgestudio.org), based in Brooklyn, NY and Belfast, Maine. Their projects connect daily life experiences to vast, generative forces of geological and cosmological change.
As part of the collaboration, Elizabeth uses photography (digital and 35mm) and video to visualize and signal powerful, invisible forces (natural and human-made) that shape daily life. She is Emeritus Professor of Media Studies, The New School, New York City, and a member of the Atomic Photographers Guild
