The hand-built camera obscuras that I make project light onto translucent papers. Then, I manipulate the papers to choreograph flows of sunlight as it meets landscapes and built environments. I document the sun’s dance with a digital camera. This process combines contemporary digital camera with an analogue device used during the Renaissance to study light and model human vision.

In the resulting photographs, light presents itself as a force of vision and sensation that is by turns uncanny…dreamlike…impish.
